Berends, Julius
(1817-1891),
Prussian politician. Member of the executive committee of the Handwerkerverein (1844-1846); participant in the revolutionary events in Berlin 1848; co-founder of the democratic Volksklub (April 1848); member of the Prussian National Assembly (1848) and the second chamber (1849); emigrated to Texas (1853); again in Prussia from 1875 until the mid-1880s when he emigrated to Switzerland.
