publisher and politician. Member of the second chamber of the Baden Landtag (1841-1851), the Frankfurt Pre-Parliament, and of the National Assembly (1848/49); chairman of its constitutional committee; under secretary of state in the Frankfurt ministry of the interior (August 1848-May 1849); commissar of the Frankfurt central government in Berlin (November 1848; April-May 1849).
