Member of the Rhenish provincial Diet (1843-1847), the first and second Prussian Unified Diet (1847/48), and the Frankfurt National Assembly (May 1848-May 1849); minister of finance in the Frankfurt central government (August 1848-May 1849); member of the Gotha assembly (June 1849), the second chamber of the Prussian Landtag (1849-1852; 1859), and the Erfurt Diet (1850).
