Bethmann-Hollweg, Moritz August von
(1795-1877),
jurist and Prussian statesman; ennobled 1840. Professor at the University of Berlin (from 1820) and the University of Bonn (from 1829); member of the Prussian upper chamber (1849–1851) and, as leading member of the liberal-conservative Wochenblattpartei, of the second chamber/house of deputies (1852-1855; 1859–1861); minister for cultural affairs (1858–1862).
