Binder von Kriegelstein, Franz Freiherr von
(1774-1855),
Austrian diplomat; by dint of his postings to Stockholm in 1801, Berlin in 1803, St Petersburg in 1809 and Kopenhagen in 1810 he was regarded as a specialist on the political situation in the North. 1812 envoy in Stuttgart; 1813 summoned to the congress in Prague; 1814/15 took part in the Congress of Vienna; 1815 envoy in The Hague; 1820 in Turin; 1823/24 special mission in Portugal; 1826 envoy in Bern; 1832-34 carried out special commissions for the state chancellery, in Berlin and elsewhere. 1837-1843 envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary at the Saxon court in Dresden.
