Bloomfield, Lord John Arthur Douglas
(1802-1879),
British diplomat; created Baron Bloomfield of Ciamhaltha in 1871. Started his career as attaché in Vienna, St Petersburg, and Lisbon; secretary of legation in Stuttgart (1825) and Stockholm (1826); secretary of embassy at St Petersburg (1839); envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary to St Petersburg (1844–1851) and Berlin (1851–1860); ambassador to Vienna (1860–1871).
